Our Client in the Banking and Finance Industry is seeking a  Desktop Publisher for their Downtown Toronto office. This is a 3 months contract to start, possible extension OR Permanency
 
 
GROUP/PROJECT INFO: This group manages all communications for Nesbitt Burns. This individual will provide desktop publishing support to the Nesbitt Burns Product and Services team, as well as other select groups within the Private Client Division (PCD) of Nesbitt Burns.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
80%: Desktop Publishing Support
10%: Relationship Management
5%: Risk Management and Control
5%: Measurement and Reporting

Desktop Publishing Support (80%)
• Produce high quality design solutions using InDesign.
• Ensure all documents produced adhere to current brand standards and maintain Nesbitt Burns’ visual identity, are compliant and confidentiality standards are maintained, where applicable.
• Prepare materials for distribution or posting to firm’s Intranet site.
• Assist in developing and formalizing standards for all documentation to ensure consistency.
• Manage production of weekly internal e-newsletter, ensuring that all content required is delivered on time by all editorial contributors in order to meet prescribed timelines.
• Participate in weekly editorial committee meeting.

 Relationship Management (10%)
• Develop strong relationships with Product Communications team and all Product Managers to assist in the successful execution of product materials.
• Work closely with translation, legal and compliance to make certain materials are produced in both English and French for distribution and proper sign-offs are received, where applicable.
• Work with other head office teams and internal partners, when required, to assist in production and distribution of materials.

Risk Management and Control (5%)
• Ensure that project docket system is kept updated to ensure proper tracking of projects across the Product team, including documenting and storing all applicable sign-offs.
• Review current production processes for possible enhancements and development of any turn-key processes.
Measurement and Reporting (5%)
• Produce any applicable reporting on projects required for reporting or editorial meetings.

TOP SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
• Must be proficient with InDesign *Candidates selected for an interview should bring in previous work samples to present to HM*
• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
– Intermediate to advanced level practical knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat

SOFT SKILLS:
• Effective time-management skills to prioritize projects and ensure high quality production outputs. 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to self-motivate and work well within a team setting.
• Ability to adapt and respond to challenges, deadlines, emergencies, and a rapidly changing work environment.

• Ability to make recommendations on most appropriate layout, design and formatting.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:  Post-secondary education in Graphic Design or a relevant field.
