MaxSys Staffing is currently seeking a Dock Supervisor for a client located in Ottawa. This is a full time permanent position.
Dock Supervisor is a working supervisor alongside dock leads and workers to oversee the procedures and freight movement during assigned shift. This person will be responsible for managing work flow throughout the shift, meeting on time commitments set forth by both company and customer; special requirements given by customers and proper management of dock staff.
Shift times: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm 11:00pm
Pay rate: To be negotiated

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Schedules and assigns tasks for dock planning and setup.
Observes loading and/or unloading of trucks for proper handling and distribution of freight for transport and ensures timely delivery of freight
Supervise operations, procedures, and freight movement.
Enforces all safety measures in regard to balance of freight for safe operation of trucks.
Enforces compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules and government regulations.
Trains new dock employees and counsels dock personnel with feedback, coaching and discipline as needed for improved job performance in partnership with Operations Manager.
Creates and maintains a teamwork environment with employees.Coordinates drivers and assigns trucks and delivery routes for delivery of freight.
Maintains equipment and facility for effective, clean and safe operations.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:
Minimum of 3-5 years experience in LTL freight, / logistics or transportation.
Proven leadership, team building and interpersonal relationship skills.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
Computer savvy and versed in AS400 program along with the Microsoft platform for reporting. (Excel, word, etc)

High aptitude for training and facilitating
Must have strong work ethic and good problem solving skills.
Must be willing to work 50 hours/week average.
Must be able to work independently, or in a team setting.
Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high volume environment with multiple priorities.
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
