MaxSys is currently looking for an Editor, Senior for our Federal Client.
• Secondary school diploma is required
• A certificate, diploma or degree in French writing, journalism or other related field from a post-secondary institution is required.
• 5 years of experience and within the last 1 year performing French / English concurrence work to ensure consistent information in both official languages.
• 5 years of experience and within the last 1 year in editing and writing in French for the web using plain language and effective web writing techniques.
• 5 years of experience and within the last 1 year adapting web content for general audiences with average literacy skills as well as adapting for technical audiences.
• 5 years of experience and within the last 1 year using document management techniques (track changes/restricted editing/version control) to manage multiple writing assignments simultaneously, including managing timelines and revisions.
• Within the last 1 year experience in working with style guides, including Le guide du rédacteur / The Canadian Style: A Guide to Writing and Editing.
• Perform French/English concurrence on translated content to ensure consistent information in both official languages.
• Edit and occasionally write content in French for Content will range from introduction pages, articles, highlights, and summaries, to captions and text for interactive modules.  Content will be mostly targeted at a general audience of stakeholders and consumers or technical audiences.
• Prepare web-appropriate adaptations of printed material, such as with language, style and format suitable for reading on a web page.
• Use best practices in web writing to prepare documents for – including style, formatting, search engine optimization, keyword validation, usability/navigation principles, and government guidelines.
• Use plain language and content design principles to structure complex information to mirror online user behaviour and meet readability requirements.
• Edit content for general audiences to meet a score between 80 and100 for readability
• Researching key terms using tools like Google AdWords: Keyword Planner or Google Trends to develop web content.
• Practice precise document management to ensure version control, quality and consistency between English and French documents.
• Liaise with digital communications advisors and Web writers to establish and/or clarify needs.
• Providing client service and advice to managers and employees.
• Coordinate translation when required.
• Working independently as the sole French language expert in an English environment.
