Accounting & Finance - Toronto

Our Client in the Banking and Finance Industry is seeking a Financial Analyst  for their Downtown Toronto office. This is a 6 months contract to start, possible extension OR Permanency
 
 
GROUP/PROJECT INFORMATION: This is the business management group that supports P&C Technology. The team is comprised of 15 members and is involved in forecasting reviews, clarity, business cases, financials (desk and presentations) and resourcing. The primary focus here is forecasting and financials. Additionally, 30% of their time will be spent assisting the communications manager in sharepoint and social media content. They will not be responsible for creating this content, but having an understanding of how to operate these kinds of platforms.

CULTURE: This is a collaborative environment and the manager wants to ensure that team members are not thinking in silos, but working together where necessary.
EVP: If a contractor/team member has a particular interest in a certain item that isn’t usually covered by the business management team, there could be an opportunity to learn/grow in a specific area of interest (in tandem with day to day responsibilities)

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
• Conduct Monthly portfolio reviews and follow up on variances
• Assist with project forecasting and review
• Actively work with Finance to review and charge fixed price contracts in the internal cost tracking system
• Act as the subject matter expert for Clarity (an internal cost tracking system)
• Investigate, reconcile and correct cost discrepancies
• Help develop communication plans, presentations and maintain SharePoint site
• Investigate and Reconcile invoicing issues
• 30% of their time will be spent with communications manager – assisting with Sharpoint and
• Assist team members as needed

TOP SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
• 2 – 4 years of work experience in a similar capacity (financial analysis)
• On the job analytical experience with financial reporting
• Intermediate to advance expertise with Excel (and Microsoft Office Suite of products) particularly – pivots, VLooks-ups (the contractor will be working with hundreds of lines of data)
• Prior understanding and reconciliation (accruals and other related accounting terminology)
•  Some experience with social media content and sharepoint

NICE TO HAVE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
• Previous experience in a bank is an asset
• Previous experience working with a PM
• Experience with clarity is going to be an asset

SOFT SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent people skills
• Self motivated
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively
• Ability to take initiative

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
• Undergraduate degree in commerce, business, finance or a related field
• Pursuing CPA is an asset, but not mandatory
