GROUP/PROJECT INFO:
This Group is manages what the Volcker rule implementation did to financial reports.
•      Under the direction of the Director, the Manager is responsible for managing the production and development of Finance Volcker reporting.
•      Act as the main Finance contact in support of Volcker Finance requirements for the bank.
•      The Manager is accountable to deliver quality financial information and advice on a timely basis and ensures adherence to financial policies, standards and procedures.
•      The Manager is required to identify continuous improvement opportunities and will escalate any potential risk issue.

The group deals with a lot of groups within the bank and is highly connected.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
 
1.     Reporting and Financial Analysis (30%)
Ensures the accurate and timely completion of the following:
•      Quarterly detailed VBU financial analysis for OG Finance, VCO and OG (BU heads, BUCOs, DVE, TFS, Compliance)
•      Control and update the business unit mappings with input from OG Finance, GMO, BUCOs and TFS. Ensure consistency with VCO and GMO.
•      Maintain the Volcker hierarchy
•      Manage the adjustments process with the operating groups within reporting timelines.
•      Track adjustments in the adjustment tracker with supporting documentation
•      Provide Financial support for satisfying regulatory requests.
•      Ensure proper procedures, adequate internal controls, documentation and completion of audit trails
•      Provide specific complex financial information on an as needed basis.
 
2.     Advisory/Strategy (30%)
•      Review and implement improvements to Quarterly Volcker Reports, supporting data and processes
•      Ensure proactive financial analysis of Quarterly Volcker Reports and supporting data
•      Review and update Volcker documentation relating to Finance processes
•      Authority to provide advice to colleagues with respect to financial processes, reporting design and delivery.
•      Ensure adequate financial controls and supporting information, while satisfying the requirements of corporate governance
•      Manage, communicate, and escalate operating/processing issues and provide alternative solutions and recommendations to ensure resolution.
•      Advise VCO/OG/GMO teams of any potential risks and opportunities in financial results
•      Assist the VCO/OG in the interpretation and impacts of accounting policies, risk guidelines and regulatory governance and ensure that new and existing initiatives are in compliance with existing bank and regulatory policies.
•      Knowledgeable of changing requirements of management/regulatory reporting process and manage the changes into the team and work processes.
 
3.     Managerial Leadership (20%)
•      Provides managerial leadership to employees that include assigning task and work, holding regular meetings, mentoring, coaching in order to create and maintain a high performance team.
•      Develop and implement training and development plans for employees to ensure employees have required skills and knowledge
•      Display and encourage appropriate high performance behaviors consistent with Finance goals.
 
4.     Relationship Management (20%)
•      Build relationships with all cross functional groups primarily with the Operating Groups Finance, Volcker rule compliance office and CM Trade floor supervision
•      Liaise with other support groups (CAG, GPO/GMO, VCO, Compliance etc) to achieve objectives of improved efficiency and reporting innovations
•
 
TOP SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
•      7-10 years working experience in a Finance environment
•      Strong Excel Skills: At least Pivot table and V-lookups, (Macro is a nice to have)
•      Finance, Accounting degree or B. Comm
•      Advanced analytical and financial acumen
•      Capital Markets product knowledge
•      Good knowledge of GAAP and SOX requirements Strong understanding of accounting and reporting functions across the bank
•      Expert ability to collect, document and analyze processes and controls, including developing and implementing new processes and communication recommendations.
•      Completion or near completion of an accounting designation (CGA, CMA, CPA)
 
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
•      Volcker knowledge is a very nice to have
•      Essbase knowledge
•      Capital Markets product knowledge
•      Good knowledge of GAAP and SOX requirements
•      Advance knowledge of bank systems (I.E CODA, Progress, FC)
 
SOFT SKILLS:
•      Excellent interpersonal skills in order to maintain relationships along with good written and verbal communication skills
•      Strong organizational, multi-tasking and prioritization skills in order to efficiently complete multi-intensive or time sensitive assignments
•      Good prioritization skills and ability to determine when and how to escalate issues
