Information Technology - Halifax

?A client in the Halifax area is currently looking for a full time experienced manager responsible and accountable for the smooth running of computer and communication systems within the limits of requirements, specifications, costs and timelines. The position manages the implementation and maintenance of the organizations computing needs and virtual environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
 Managing information technology, online technology and computer systems
Planning, organizing, controlling and evaluating IT and electronic data operations
Managing Supervising Team Lead and IT staff by recruiting, training, coaching, disciplining employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance
Project Managing both IT specific projects and play a lead role in collaborating with other ISANS teams on organizational projects
Designing, developing, implementing and coordinating systems, policies and procedures
Ensuring security of data, network access and backup systems
Identifying problematic areas and implementing strategic solutions in time
Auditing systems and assessing their outcomes
 Preserving assets, information security and control structures
Handling annual budget and ensuring cost effectiveness
 Keeping up-to-date with theory, practice, current info, policies, as it relates to the work of the organization and of the Team
Monitoring, evaluating and providing recommendations re human resource needs
Overseeing the identification of professional development opportunities for Team staff
Representing the Team and organization at various forums as necessary
Providing leadership both inside and outside the organization with regard to the Team’s services
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
·      Bachelors Degree or Equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted
3 years’ experience in a supervisory/manager position
Experience working in a cross-cultural environment
Experience developing, implementing and evaluating IT systems
Experience in repairing computer hardware and peripherals
Experience in working with networks, workstations, servers, security systems, and associated applications; knowledge of networking (Windows Domains, Cabling, Switches, and Routers)
Experience with Windows desktop operating systems, Windows Server operating systems, Microsoft Office 2003/2007, Adobe applications, ACCPAC, Databases, .INET technologies, Norton Products, Windows Applications (Office products, Hyper V, SQL Server)
Experience with Moodle
Experience with MySQL database
 Experience with Linux operating systems (Cent OS)
Experience with Virtual hosts
Experience with Windows Servers (SharePoint, Office Communicator, Hyper V and Cert)
Experience with Online learning technology including Moodle administration Version 2.9 
Experience delivering presentations
·        Strong written and verbal English communication skills
·        Ability to work independently and as part of a team
·        Strong time management and organizational skills
·        Proficient with MS Office applications
Additional languages an asset
Terms of Employment:
12-month Fixed Term contract – renewable pending
continuation of funding.
Full-time 35 hours per week – Health benefits, RSP after year, Vacation/Sick/family sick/personal days
