MaxSys Staffing is currently looking for an experienced Product Quality Assurance and Compliance Specialist for a client in the Ottawa area. Product Quality Assurance and Compliance Specialist The Product Quality Assurance and Compliance Specialist ensures that company products meet consumer quality and performance expectations, as well as industry and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include the implementation of the company’s Quality Assurance and Compliance strategy and processes. This role addresses Product Quality Assurance and Compliance issues including application and reporting requirements throughout the product life cycles. Job Responsibilities Product Quality Assurance and Compliance representative with required expertise and knowledge in relevant quality, safety and compliance requirements for the manufacturing, sales and distribution of kitchenware appliances Key resource in the implementation of product inspection, quality, safety and compliance strategy Inspects and tests customer return units to verify customer claims Key interface with customer support team examining and evaluating product problems identified through customer complaints. Establishes a consistent feedback loop to product development team to initiate product development changes as required. Development and implementation of quality, safety and compliance testing and documentation protocols and procedures for all company’s products Review and report product inspection and test results to Senior and Departmental leadership as appropriate Engage with 3rd party and legal resources, as appropriate, to resolve product quality, safety and compliance issues Identify and make recommendations to address any product quality, safety or compliance issues Ensure compliance with U. S. and international product quality, safety and related regulations, including the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Act, and additional regulations, including contracts and agreements Responsible for handling product certification requirements either locally or internationally to ensure a clear understanding and execution of certification requirements Develop, direct, implement and monitor product quality and safety compliance programs including processes for documentation and audit preparation Review and monitor applicable proposed regulatory legislation; advise on potential impact Contribute to a creative team work environment within a global and fast paced development and sales environment with the ability to build and maintain productive and constructive relationships with all stake holders. Proactively anticipate challenges related to product quality and safety regulation in the countries in which we operate, now and in the future Qualifications Bachelor of Engineering in a relevant discipline (Mechanical Engineering is an asset) or equivalent experience 2 years’ experience in quality assurance and compliance within related industry that focuses consumer products or similar relevant industry that has comparable safety and compliance requirements. Knowledge of US consumer product safety regulations and ability to quickly learn and understand international certification and compliance requirements Must be willing to take and defend positions while also functioning well in a collaborative team environment Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders within with a global organization Experience with conducting product reviews to assure compliance with applicable safety standards Experience preparing and delivering reviews of components, plastic materials, product operation and quality, electrical and electronic materials, product markings, literature and countermeasures to design problems that affect product listing, compliance and company safety standards Experience dealing with product safety regulators such as Health Canada, and the U.S. CPSC Strong computer skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. are essential.
