Our Client in the Banking and Finance Industry is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst for their Downtown Toronto office. This is a 12 months contract to start, possible extension OR Permanency
GROUP/PROJECT INFORMATION: This is the business management group that supports P&C Technology. The team is comprised of 15 members and is involved in forecasting reviews, clarity, business cases, financials (desk and presentations) and resourcing. The primary focus here is forecasting and financials and resourcing. They will be conducting more analysis with the HM and resourcing to arrive at conclusions around what each LTO needs in terms of strategy. They will also be a part of looking at the portfolio as a whole, assessing for risks and highlighting possible changes and making these recommendations.
They will bring these recommendations to their manager before packaging these for the relevant executive.

EVP: If a contractor/team member has a particular interest in a certain item that isn’t usually covered by the business management team, there could be an opportunity to learn/grow in a specific area of interest (in tandem with day to day responsibilities)
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
Conduct Monthly portfolio reviews and follow up on variances with project managers and senior technology officers
Assist Senior Manager with reporting and portfolio analysis, highlighting opportunities and challenges within the portfolio
Provide monthly reporting with high level explanations and assist with program related forecasting
Actively work with Finance to understand and manage any contract or invoicing issues
Act as the subject matter expert for Clarity (an internal cost tracking system)
Work with cross functional teams including Technology, Finance and Accounts Payable groups
5+ years of work experience in a similar capacity (financial analysis)
On the job analytical experience with financial reporting
Specifically exposure with producing an executive summary from conducting holistic and insightful analysis
Intermediate to advance expertise with Excel (and Microsoft Office Suite of products) particularly – pivots, VLooks-ups (the contractor will be working with hundreds of lines of data)
Prior understanding and reconciliation (accruals and other related accounting terminology)
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience in a bank is an asset
Previous experience working with a PM
The #1 soft skill we are looking for is people skills, as this individual is required to work with people from different levels/departments of the bank. This individual also needs to be able to work well in a team environment. Our team firmly believes in building relationships.
Self- starter someone who shows initiative and is accountable
Undergraduate degree in commerce, business, finance or a related field
Pursuing CPA is an asset, but not mandatory
