Our client within the banking industry (one of the top 5 bank’s in Canada) is looking for Technical (Data) Architect/ Developer having strong technical development experience on Information Analyzer; IBM Datastage and or IDQ. This is a permanent job position for Halifax location.

What is the opportunity?
A key opportunity within the US Data Office where you will perform technical design, develop solutions and independently manage deliverables on assigned projects related to Data Quality, to ensure US Data Office strategic goals and objectives are accomplished. 
 
What will you do?
• Follow structured approach to understand requirements and design solutions for Data  Quality deliverables
• Define and manage scope and deliverables to align with stakeholder requirements
• Review deliverables of team members and provide feedback/suggestions.
• Design Data Sourcing solutions that involve retrieving data from various sources, profile the data and prepare the data for Data Quality analysis.
• Understand the Data Quality Rules (English language rules) and convert them into executable rules in a DQ tool (Information Analyzer/Datastage OR IDQ)
• Run the executable rules using the retrieved data, and generate Data Quality metrics.      
• Aggregate the metrics and represent them using Analytics tool (such as Tableau) as a Dashboard
• Design and create exception handling methods and processes and collect process metrics
• Seek out industry trends and organization knowledge to understand alternative approaches / solutions.
• Function as a liaison between Business Analysts and the Technical teams on assigned issues.
• Ensure traceability of requirements to deliverables.
• When assigned, walk stakeholders through deliverables and manage expectations regarding scope.
• Seek innovative or improved methods to get the work done and implement best practices.
• Contribute content for end user documentation and training.
• Recommend business solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs continually exploring and assessing options for value-add to clients.
• When assigned, assists with the development of high level plans for completion of Implementation and Acceptance phases of projects, improving in the level of detail and accuracy of estimates over time.
• Provide support related to technical bug fixes and issue resolution related to implementation of Data Quality rules, Data sourcing or Dashboard.
• When assigned, contributes to the development and execution of testing, including coordinating system and acceptance testing.
• Reviews defects arising from testing, including User Acceptance Testing, and works with stakeholders to resolve them.
• Provides guidance with the definition of a defect as a Change Request or bug.
• Ability to perform Root Cause analysis of issues and defects
 
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
• Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in  Computer Science / Engineering or related
• 4+ years of Technical Development experience on Datastage/Information Analyzer OR IDQ
• 5+ years of experience in technical design and implementation of Data solutions including Data Sourcing, Data Management (Archival, retention, exception handling, traceability, ETL etc.)
• Ability to create executable Data Quality Rules using IBM Datastage-Information Analyzer OR IDQ
• Technical hands-on knowledge of associating rules to data (from files, databases, webservices etc.), run the rules and generate Data Quality Metrics
• Hands-on experience with BI/analytics tools such as Tableau, and the ability to create a working Data Quality Dashboard using the metrics generated.
• Hands-on experience in system integration and creation of connectors for Information Analyzer/Datastage with various tools and technologies
• Understanding of how Information Analyzer/Datastage will read and process data from various sources (such as HDFS, NAS drives, Databases etc.) and the necessary technical configurations.
• Understanding of the internal design and set-up of Information Analyzer/Datastage in order to create an efficient and scalable model for creation of DQ rules and ability to group the rules by their type, Business function etc.
• Technical Knowledge of InfoSphere Information Server (IIS) to be able to work with IT teams during Installations, Migrations,  Server management, Security and access configurations, Data Management and Archival etc.
• Technical knowledge of Data sourcing and ETL processes     
• Understanding of SDLC and basic Project Management concepts   
 
Nice to have
• Knowledge of Banking and Capital Markets Data Models
• Understanding of concepts and components related to Data Management, such as Data Architecture, Data Models, Data Lineage, Data Dictionary, Controls etc.
