MaxSys is currently looking for a Technical Writer, Senior for our Federal Client.
• Secondary school diploma is required
• Must provide proof of a certificate, diploma, or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in communications, English, translation, journalism or other related fields.
• Must demonstrate recent and 2 years of experience with a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years in writing documents for the Web (including search engine optimization), writing and editing documents for clarity/plain language, and providing clear writing advice to clients. 
• Must demonstrate recent and 2 years of experience in working with style guides, for example the Canadian Style: A Guide to Writing and Editing. 
• The proposed resource must demonstrate recent and significant experience* in providing strategic communications advice to senior management (Director-level and above).
• Demonstrate ability to convert technical documentation to consumer-friendly verbiage with the use of diagrams, images, text and best-practices (provide 2 examples of where this was accomplished work with references).
• Use industry best practices, relevant experience and knowledge of the PSC current state to work in collaboration with the PSC Business Analysts to identify, document and communicate the high-level and detailed as-is and to-be business services models; 
• In collaboration with LL Project Director and Project Administrator – review, modify and complete existing guiding documents and/or directives by re-writing an existing draft Materiel Group Instruction (MGI) 3-2 manual on LL and write an ADM(Mat) directive and implementation directive using suitable guidance from documents already produced by the Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC) documents 9920-1 (CJOC J7);
• Assist in developing a train-the-trainer course and material on how to use the SPLLCT developed tools and develop a feedback form/questionnaire for the participants to assess the training effectiveness.
• More specifically:
• Document helps text, user manuals, technical documentation, web page content, etc.
• Determine documentation requirements and makes plans for meeting them.
• Gather information concerning the features and functions provided by the developers.
• Assess the audience for the documents/manuals which are required and prepare a statement of purpose and scope for each.
• Develop a table of content for each document/manual and write or edit the required content.
• Investigate the accuracy of the information collected by making direct use of the material being documented.
• Liaise with subject matter experts and stakeholders to establish and/or clarify needs, assemble the necessary information, and review and/or approve content.
• Use plain language and information design principles to structure complex information to be more consumer-friendly.
• Prepare Web-appropriate adaptations of printed material, such as with language, style and format suitable for reading on a Web page. Prepare plain language summaries of complex documents or scientific reports intended principally for specialized audiences.
• Prepare or coordinate the preparation of any required illustrations and diagrams.
• Design the layout of the documents/manuals.
• Use word-processing Word and Excel packages to produce final copy.
